Rost Motor, Inc.
Started as an auto repair shop in 1947, an auto dealer in 1958, then in 1962 we became Iowa’s very first Ford Credit Dealership! We sell New Fords and used vehicles to all of Northwest Iowa. Our family’s focus is to provide quality and personable service our friends in Manson and surrounding communities.
“Why do we love being in the car business? You could say, its in our DNA.” [Audio]
Our late founder’s Leo and Mabel Rost started the family business in the 1940s when Leo returned from serving in WWII. The duo opened an army surplus store which later transformed into a Minneapolis Moline Implement store with a full line of farm equipment.
Leo has had an intrigue with engines his entire life. While serving in the military Leo was a mechanic. The tanks the United States used in WWII were beefed up Ford engines, which Leo was familiar with. He was so familiar with them that he was shipped out to Germany on two separate tours to train other US soldier’s in his craft.
Paralyzing his right arm by shrapnel in the war, Leo returned to Manson and trained mechanics using only his left arm (for an entire year). He never had the opportunity to thank the young man who patched his arm together in Germany so we’d like to recognize him here. Thank-you solider.
The sibling combo of Del and Bernie Rost teamed up in the early 1970’s to run the store together with their father Leo.
Randy and Colleen Kaiser soon after joined the team in the late 1970’s.
